CRVI - Cogeneric Merger

Sir, How is PVR INOX merger, congeneric merger and not horizontal merger? What is that does not make it a horizontal merger?

The PVR-INOX merger is considered a congeneric merger because, despite being in the same general industry, the companies are expanding their combined reach and operational scale rather than simply consolidating direct competition. The merger allows them to leverage complementary strengths and broaden their market footprint, which aligns more with the characteristics of a congeneric merger rather than a purely horizontal one.
